This is an impressive book that takes you by the hand and leaves nothing to chance in educating you about this critical area. You may have exceptional fighting skills, but if you are unable to anticipate and preempt an attack then you will probably end up hurt before you even get the chance to use those skills. That's why this book is so important -it gives you real skills and knowledge for neutralizing real life attackers, regardless of your background. The concepts are excellent and a pleasure to read through, and in particular the "Alphabet Drill" is a tremendously powerful skill that is absolutely worth gold from the self defense practitioner's view.

This was one of three books that I purchased from Sammy Franco a number of years ago, and it is currently my favorite. Sammy addresses a variety of topics ranging from the psychology of confrontations to the first strike arsenal. There are numerous photos in the book that show you exactly how to implement the first strike arsenal, as well as what tools to use to train. One of the most valuable sections of this book is the discussion on the subject of "ghosting." This opened my eyes to a whole new way to look at physical confrontation! You can't go wrong with this book. Though I don't have the First Strike video, I have seen the previews, and they look as though they would be the perfect companion set!

The streets are a cold, unfair place, far from the unrealistic world of dojos and boxing rings. In an actual altercation, there are no such things as rules or limitations on what a person might do; he can easily pull out a knife or call a friend when something starts to go wrong. Thus, it is imperative that one is ready to deal with such situations by preparing to defend himself in the most efficient, effective, and safest way possible. First Strike is all about correctly utilizing the preemptive strike in a self defense situation, since delivering one of the many first strike techniques leaves you in a much better position to dispatch of an assailant than if you gave him the offensive flow. This book covers everything from the mental components, such as target acquisition, ghosting, and fear management, to the physical components, which include natural body weapons, first strike tools, secondary strike tools, combinations, and the de-escalation stance. Everything in the book is fully explained by Mr. Franco with simple yet comprehensive descriptions as well as copious amounts of pictures. This is a must have for anyone who wants to truly prepare for what the streets can bring. 5 stars!

Although you should always try to avoid confrontations, there are times when there is no way out! This book arms you with everything you need to know to hit him first, fast and hard! This is a must read!!

I am writing this late at night because several hours ago I got into a confrontation with some guy who was looking to harm me and my wife. I used several of the techniques described in this book and ended up knocking the criminal out cold. The police officer came to the scene and said that I was justified in what I did. It happened just like the book stated. I guess you can learn from a book. A sincere and heart felt "thank you" to Sammy Franco and FIRST STRIKE.

In this book Mr. Franco explains the science of launching the pre-emptive strike. He shows not only when it is legally justified to strike first, but also how to set up the first strike and the tools that are available to launch this type of strategic strike. This book is a must have for anyone that wants to gain the tactical advantage when a violent attack is imminent.

Explores the need for a pre-emptive strike for self-defense. Alot of martial arts instructors teach that one must first be struck before launching a defensive attack. The book dispels that myth and explains thae rational behind it.
