A great DVD that thinks outside of the box. I was looking for something to bring my workouts out of the 1990s and this DVD gave some great training tips and ideas!

Aaaaarrrggghhhh! I wish I had seen this DVD years ago! Sammy Franco tells you what gear is necessary to have for training. Gear that is unnecessary, impractical or a waste of money is also disclosed. On top of all that, you get to see examples of how to use some of the gear properly. Especially the focus mitts. The focus mitt drills are great. I've spent/wasted over $2000 on gear that turned out to be unnecessary. It was either a complete waste of money or not practical when training in RBSD (Reality Based Self Defense).
After watching this DVD, I now have a clear picture of what gear I need, and how to incorporate it into my training. And the gear suggested will not break your bank either. Thank you Sammy Franco, for helping me stop wasting money on gear that is completely unnecessary to have!

    martial arts training equipment, 5.31.2007

There's only so much you can learn by punching air. Any serious martial artist or reality-based self defense practitioner understands the need to have the right equipment. But it doesn't matter how great your equipment is if you don't know how to properly use it to maximize its benefit to your training. How to use a piece of equipment may be obvious, but how to use it WELL, and particularly how it can be used to hone the skills that are specific to street-fighting, is another question altogether. The way you train has to be the way you'll fight, or you're just wasting your time.
In this DVD, Sammy shows you all the equipment he recommends that you use for reality-based training and then shows you how best to use it with a street-fight in mind. What is taught is by no means obvious, and you'll see an immediate improvement in the way you train after watching it. Sammy also shows you what equipment he does NOT recommend and why it's not practical for reality training.
So if you're serious about reality training, get the right equipment and use it the right way. This DVD will serve as your guide.

Finally, a no BS approach to what you need for RBSD training! Other places would have you believe that you need to spend $1,000 plus on just the sparring gear alone. Mr. Franco sets you straight and also shows you how to properly use each of the training items to get the best results out of them.
Thank you Mr. Franco for saving me hundreds of dollars (at least) and showing me what is truely necessary for training. No fluff, all truth.

    Training, the Right Way, 5.23.2007

This DVD not only shows you what training equipment there are on the market, but how to use them correctly in a number of drills to help you train for the streets.
Mr. Franco expertly describes and demonstrates the proper way to use each piece of equipment, often in ways that are not immediately apparent, such as how petroleum jelly can be used to replicate blood and sweat when both training with the BOB or performing disarms with a partner.
I cannot tell you how many times I have had to deal with a poor partner holding focus mitts incorrectly, so I can attest to how invaluable these demonstrations are. As an added bonus, this DVD also provides an indirect reference for what brands of equipment to buy, since Mr. Franco only uses the best equipment for his students, albeit Mr. Franco does not personally endorse any one brand of product.
Whether you are a seasoned fighter striving to improve himself further or a novice just getting started, this DVD will provide you with what you need to use and properly train with a multitude of different training implements. Don't hesitate to buy, 5 Stars!
