This is a very practical instruction of submissions when you are on top of your opponent showing arsenal of dozen different techniques. And you can apply them depending on the situation you (or your opponent) are in. Say, for example, you are trying to apply a submission called "The Box". For this your opponent's forearm and shoulder should be bent by about 90 degrees. But if he resists and straights his arm. No problem you can counter and apply a Straight Arm Bar immediately! I also like that Sammy honestly says about the limitation of any submission and dangers which you can expect (punches, weapons) from your opponent. At the same time some submissions can be deadly!

Another great DVD from Sammy Franco. This DVD is loaded with submission techniques from the mount position. Each one is explained in detail by Mr. Franco and then followed by a examples. It will literally take you weeks, if not months, to become proficient in all the different submissions taught. He also provides an essential understanding of the mount position itself and it's limitations in real life situations. This is a must have DVD for understanding ground fighting. I highly recommend this purchase.

I am impressed with this dvd and would say that the "limitations and considerations of submission fighting" is almost worth the cost of the dvd alone. The techniques have been slightly modified to be more suitable for the street, taking in to account that your opponent may try to strike, gouge or stab you. The linking of different counters is a great addition.

Excellent groundfighting techniques from the mount position. Sammy Franco covers basic and advanced groundfighting strikes and submissions in an easy to learn format. The techniques are performed slowly and over and over so that you can easily practice them with a partner. Grab a partner and set aside some time because these techniques will keep you busy for a while!

In this first volume, Mr. Franco gives you a wealth of techniques to apply from the mount position. My training partner and I have recently begun working on the material covered on this dvd and I honestly can't recommend it highly enough. Do yourself a favor and get it!

As always Franco delivers excellent instruction and video quality. All of the techniques are taught in easy to lean manner. One of the most important items in this DVD are the limitations of ground-fighting. These mount position skills are essential to any Self-Defense practitioner, Mixed Martial Artist, or Martial artist. I can't wait for the rest of the series!

Though many traditional martial arts seem to deny it, any novice self-defense practitioner knows that most street fights end up on the ground. There are plenty of dvds out there on submission fighting, but they fall into that same contextual trap whereby the techniques you learn are useful on a mat against a similarly trained opponent, but are not vetted against the realities of actual physical confrontations where someone is trying to hurt you. This dvd is the one dvd I know of that does not suffer from any of those failings. Submission fighting is highly position oriented, meaning your options are dictated by your position in relation to your opponent at any given time. Volume one teaches the techniques you need to know if you find yourself (or put yourself) into the advantageous mount position. It's the perfect place to start if you wish to delve into this crucial but often overlooked aspect of self-defense.
