COMBAT SPEED TRAINING IS CRITICAL
Combat speed is a chief fighting attribute necessary for both reality based self defense and combat sports training. What most people don't realize is fighting speed is something that you can easily improve. There are specific drills and exercises or "speed training" that can dramatically boost the quickness of your punches, kicks, blocks and other fighting moves.
Combat speed is much like a steel chain made up of several separate links that are related to one another. Each link in the combat speed chain represents a particular component or unique attribute of quickness that must be practiced to maximize the overall acceleration of your martial arts skills and abilities.
THE FIVE SPEED LINKS
The five combat speed links include the following (click on each link to learn more)
If all five speed links are developed and combined in a speed training workout, you will notice a big improvement in all of your fighting skills. These improvements will include:
- Rapid punching combinations will help you overwhelm your opponent both in the streets or the ring.
- Swifter kicking means less technique telegraphing and greater impact power.
- Improved offensive timing leads to better target accuracy and maximum impact power.
- Improved defensive timing improves blocking, parrying and evasion movements.
- Explosive footwork permits you to close the distance gap between you and your opponenet faster.
- Quicker close quarter combat techniques means better grappling, clinching and ground fighting skills.
