I have read a lot of books on the topic of self defense and martial arts and I have to say this is without a doubt the best book I have come accross. It contains everything, ground fighting, knife defense, stick fighting, physical fitness for self defense and tons more. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is concerned about there own or there familys safety.

If you want an excellent summary of the CFA system, 1001 Street fighting Secrets is for you. Useful tips to get you started in multiple domains of street fighting including deescalation, combatives, knife, stick, gun, conditioning, philosophy, and many others. There really are 1001 separate pointers in this book. This book gives you the basics for what you see in detail in the CFA DVDs. You'll read it over and over again and learn something new each time.

This is a modern day bible for reality based self-defense. Each chapter cover a different aspect of street fighting. From the foundational beginning, to training and conditioning, along with the mental approach. It gives the attributes of combat along with tactics and strategies. It covers it all - weapons, ground fighting, etc. Gives great insight into what Mr. Franco's system is all about. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn about CFA and rbsd.

This is by far the best book on the subject. I have read many books on fighting and self-defense and none can touch this one. A lot are filled with total B.S., but this one WILL save your life.

1,001 Street Fighting Secrets is a book one really needs to add in their war chest. Sammy Franco takes the meat and leaves the bones behind. This book gives short concise info and instruction in certain section one needs to know or simply put into practice. I found it not only informative but you can apply it to your attitude, beliefs, and behavior. A definite buy!

Mr. Franco has done it again with this robust and comprehensive book on street self defense. After a brief introduction of what CFA is, 1,001 Street Fighting Secrets jumps straight into the fundamentals, attributes, and tactics you need to know be prepare yourself for the dangers of the streets. Each section is broken up by secret into discrete points, which makes the book a considerably easier read, which is great once you realize just how much information there is to digest. This book even addresses bludgeons, knives, and guns, testifying to the thoroughness of this book; it really does cover just about anything you could encounter on the streets. As an added bonus, the philosophy section at the very end of the book gives an even deeper insight into the CFA mindset, and is an interesting read in and of itself. This is a phenomenal book; do not hesitate to pick it up. 5 stars!

Like many officers I know, I went through a martial arts phase in my life. Although I won some trophies, I soon became disenchanted because it had absolutely no application to my law enforcement duties. On the street, I never bowed to an assailant, fought fairly, or complimented him when he landed a blow.
You can imagine my initial impression when 1001 Street Fighting Secrets was sent to me for review. My mind flashed back to belts and dojos and a bunch of senseless rituals. Boy, was I wrong!
The book is authored by Sammy Franco. Rather than attempting to teach the reader complicated, choreographed moves through the use of text and numbered photos, Franco instead has addressed the less understood concepts of preparing mentally as well as physically for a violent confrontation.
The text consists on nine well-organized chapters, including street-fighting fundamentals, training and conditioning, attributes of combatants, tactics and strategy, grappling and ground fighting, bludgeons and stick-fighting, knife defense and knife-fighting, firearms and combat shooting.
The final chapter on philosophy contains enough nuggets of wisdom alone to justify adding the text to your personal library. This is excellent material for law enforcement trainers, as well as for the motivated individual officer who wants to expand his mental fighting abilities along with his physical skills.
