With the actual trend of grappling and ground fighting, there is a strong possibility of fighting a "wrestling thug". This book will teach you how to destroy a grappler, counter his attack and be "street effective" in a dangerous ground fight.

I have to admit that for a long time i was always afraid of getting a beat down when a fight suddenly went to the ground. Especially now with so many guys getting into the grappling scene. I decided to pick up Sammy's book and I am so glad that i did. So much fear and pressure of not knowing what the grappler had in his mind was eliminated from my own mind. First, Mr. Franco teaches you how to get the upper hand so the grappler doesn't have that window to take you down. If by chance he catches you off guard and does send you to the pavement, Sammy will show you many methods of making the grappler a part of the pavement and wish he didn't take you there in the first place!!! You will learn simple but strong methods of defense and attack. One thing I have to say is that Mr. Franco always has a way of teaching you without confusing you. A very informative and easy to understand book that will show you why never again will you need to fear the grappler. Thanks Sammy.

Even if grappling is not your game the material here will go a long way to demystify the grappler for you and the techniques they wish to use against you. I'd also like to point out that several of the anti-grappling techniques revealed here are absolute gems - easy to use, and taught by only a few who really mean business.

This book gives great information on keeping the fight on the feet and if it goes to the ground what you should do. Ground war is the best self defense book on ground fighting I've ever read.

The Ground War book is an invaluable source of information for those wishing to prepare themselves for the possibility of facing a grappler in the street. This book gives you insights into the mind of a grappler and techniques like matching the level of entry, the stiff arm jam and sprawling to help neutralize your opponent and give you the advantage when the fight goes to the ground.

I'm a cop down here in the dirty south and this book is just what I needed. In my line of work, 90% of my "encounters" with people end up on the ground. I have studied martial arts for a while now, but this book breaks it down and is no-nonsense.

This book is a real eye-opener. While grapplers are certainly very skilled and dangerous in their own right, they are by no means undefeatable as many of them seem to think. Some of the BJJ practitioners, for example, teach that you can simply take your attacker to the ground in the street, mount him, and choke him out. They say that the size of the guy is pretty much irrelevant, as long as you can close the distance and take him down. What total bull! Size IS a factor in a street fight, as Mr. Franco acknowledges, but it is only one of many factors. If faced with an attack from a guy who tries to tackle you to the ground and choke you out, this book will give you the tools to win.

Absolutely a "must have" for anyone who wants to learn ways of fighting the grappler. Not only the grappler, though! Most fights are going to end up on the ground anyway, so you better be prepared to deal with it effectively! This book will definitely help you do that, an awesome book!!!!!

With somewhere around 9 out of 10 fights going down to the ground, you can't say you are ready to defend yourself in an altercation if you cannot handle yourself on the ground. This book goes through everything you need to know to handle anything from the seasoned BJJ practitioner to the ex-high school football player who bum rushes you. Mr. Franco goes through the different ground positions, clinch, body tackles, and many other important concepts in great detail, complete with pictures. After reading this book, you will see exactly why karate and kung fu are practically useful from a self defense perspective in modern society; do not hesitate to buy. 5 stars!
