Warrior Wisdom: Inspiring Ideas from the World's Greatest Warriors - As long as humankind has recorded the written word, the warrior has been admired as the embodiment of some of the best aspects of human beings. They have demanded and demonstrated the great qualities and possibilities of moral human action such as courage, loyalty, determination and intelligence.  Writers of all kinds and natures have recorded the deeds of these great warriors as models of manly behavior and chivalrous ideals.   The great names of history are the names of warriors.

These great warriors lived on the knife edge between life and death, and their pending mortality acted to reveal eternal truths about human life through both their motives and acts. Thus the warrior perspective is universally unique and therefore still applicable today in our more complex modern world.

Warrior Wisdom includes a huge collection of unforgettable quotes, sayings and writings from warriors and warrior leaders, both past and present, and from around the world. This exhaustive book reveals the essentialities of the Fighter’s life, speaking with great heart, eloquence, wisdom and an earned authenticity on subjects still crucial to you today: leadership, loyalty, honor, courage, tactics, strategy and much more.

Read what warriors – Western and Eastern, obscure and famous, admirable and despicable – have said about themselves and others.  Be inspired by the words of such important figures from Alexander the Great to General George Patton.  Benefit from the pithy strategic wisdoms of Xenophon, Miyamoto Musahi, Sun Tzu and Napoleon Bonaparte.  Enjoy the wit of Winston Churchill, and the philosophical and spiritual musings of Marcus Aurelius and King David.  Warrior Wisdom offers a unique opportunity to thoroughly explore what it really means to be  a warrior...in the worlds of yesterday and today.

Warrior Wisdom is the book I've been waiting for. It contains in a nutshell the wisdom of the greatest quotes from the greatest warriors. Martial Arts is not just about physical activity. The intellectual or spiritual part is critical as well. The book Warrior Wisdom can help fill that intellectual void in the martial arts. This makes one a complete martial artist.

    Warrior ethos

If you're like me and have always appreciated military history and studying warrior ethos in general, this book is a "must have". Even though I already own editions with many of the quotes in them (original sources), it's nice to have them collected in one volume. In addition, Sammy Franco has organized them into different sections such as "Courage & Fear" and (my favorite) "Wisdom, Faith & Belief". If you're a novice at this type of wisdom you'll be overwhelmed with the sheer amount of text that Franco has collected. Well worth the money.

I have purchased books from all different styles. I don't hold back punches and believe that one of the strengths of amazon is the review section! Having said that, this is one of my favorite books! This is a book that you will be able to read in many different moods and for many different reasons. It is a great read for those days when you need motivation to train, a little pick me up, some words to put life in perspective, or just to learn from warriors who have been there and done that! It is also a book that you will be able to get great quotes from when giving presentations, talking to people at the bar, or when writing papers of your own! Sammy has done the leg work to get all of this stuff organized, categorized, and centralized for your reading pleasure! I'm stoked to have this book and you will be too!

This book should be on the shelf of every true martial artist, leader or manager. In today's society, we are often bombarded with little quips and soundbites that have no real meaning. This book is filled with quotes and ideas from various great leaders throughout history. The substance of these quotes is such that you should spend time going over the true meaning of what was said and how it applies to you and your life.

For the past 4 years, when I want to know about REAL street defense for today's world of violence, I go to Franco! He surprised me with this book because most so called "self defense" instructors don't write about anything else besides ME ME ME. This book is something that you would expect from a person with a military career. Again, Mr. Franco, Thank You!

It can take years to a lifetime, to sum up an idea and/or concept in a simple sentence or phrase; Ones that cover combat and warrior-ship… I have not come across a book that contains them. Until now. Warrior Wisdom has quotes from people that I have never known about, and most likely would of never come across. Their wisdom would of been lost to me. I'm so glad I got this book. To say this book is great, would be an understatement. It's one of those books you can either read from cover to cover, or randomly flip to different pages. The kind of quotes you can ponder it for some time. It also gives great discussion topics to bring up with your Self Defense training buddies. You can just keep going back to these kind of quotes and find new understandings of them, new applications with them. Views into a world that you have not spent a lifetime to understand, like the people that authored them have. And there are a plethora of these jewels waiting in this book. Man, this book is awesome.
